Sewing Caddy

This is a wonderful sewing companion for most seamstress’s. I did this over the weekend. I got the design from Sew, Mama, Sew.  It is ever so cute and great for the side arm of a sofa. The pink pin cushion part is filled with rice, the flower side is stuffed with wadding. My only issue is the size of the thread catcher which is too small for my needs.  I usually use a plastic bag behind me, hooked on my chair which is great for large and small pieces of fabric but still very unsightly.  If the thread catching bucket was larger, it would look out of place with the rest of the tidier and the pin cushion doesn’t need to be any bigger.  The instructions were brilliant and although I needed to read instructions carefully (I’m a bit dippy) it can be done by a medium level sewing novice. Here’s my fabrics that I used.

As you can see from the pictures above, the thread catcher unbuttons for emptying or to use the large pocket for something larger.

I think I might try this design next from How Joyful and fashion it for my needs or put it in my shop, I think its more adaptable with its removable pin cushion and loads of possibilities for adaptable pockets. There are loads of designs out there that rely on the weight of your machine to hold it all in place, so I’m hoping Copyright shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m always wary of copyright mainly out of respect to be honest for the people that have spent hours developing their own unique designs BUT in this case I feel it would be like trying to copyright an umbrella; way too many out there.
